About
Abby graduated with a Master’s degree in History from the University of Southampton in 2022. Their research interests include early-modern social, political and art history, usually with a focus on queenship, women and queers. Her undergraduate dissertation was titled ‘Female political power in Rubens’ Life of Marie de Medici’, and her postgraduate dissertation was titled ‘“A Much-Needed example of Female Creativity”: Placing Artemisia Gentileschi and her women in Feminist Art History’.
Since February 2022 they have volunteered as a research assistant at Chawton House Library, last year contributing to a temporary exhibition: Trailblazers: Women Travel Writers and the Exchange of Knowledge. Her current research focus concerns sapphic love and the concept of the ‘Romantic Friendship’, women's networks in early modern Europe, and the life of ‘Minette’, Henriette-Anne, Duchesse de Orleans.
She founded The HERstory Project in 2023 because she wants to create a collaborative and accessible place to promote underrepresented histories and historians.
As well as managing the Project, Abby is currently working on The HERstory Project Podcast and Documentary series, if you're interested in working with Abby
