About
Ayila graduated with an undergraduate degree in History from the University of Brighton last year. Her research interests include 20th century history with an emphasis on colonial relationships and genocides on marginalized communities. Her undergraduate dissertation "To What Extent Can Women Achieve Equality within Military Institutions” looked at how women have (historically and currently) been treated within military institutions with an intersectional focus on how black women are affected. Ayila has interned with Remedial Herstory Project in September on creating lesson plans concerning how communism affected women’s equality. Since October 2022, she has volunteered as a research assistant at the Old Police Cell Museum in Brighton, and has contributed to the upcoming exhibitions on the history of women in policing and true crime and the public spectacle. She is currently about to begin her Masters' in Global Media and Digital Industries at SOAS, which might be because she’s slightly too invested in internet culture.
