About

Phoebe is a Durham graduate with an MA in International Cultural Heritage Management with a focus in gender presentation in castles. With a special interest in the historiography of women, Phoebe is aiming to undo the work of biased historians in the mischaracterisation of women and place them into the spotlight they deserve. As a guide at the Henrician Deal Castle in Kent she spends a lot of time in the dark and flooded rounds (where the phrase ‘doing the rounds’ comes from!) having lots of fun making people jump. She focussed on the historiography of Anna of Denmark for her BA dissertation and is currently working on a series to further this work surrounding historic biases impacting the image of royally connected women in Britain.
